Moles: the ABCDE rule
Five criteria to help you spot a mole that should be shown to a dermatologist.
An annual check by a dermatologist remains the best prevention. Between visits, the ABCDE rule helps you spot anything that should be looked at.
The five criteria
- Asymmetry
- Border irregularity
- Colour variation
- Diameter greater than 6 mm
- Evolution (recent change)
And the ugly duckling
A mole that looks different from the others is worth having checked, even if it meets none of the criteria.
